About the project

Project ITI 2000-2004 was funded by the Czech Ministry of Education under the program "Research centers" (registered as LN00A056). The main objective of the project is to establish a research center covering main directions of contemporary research in Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science in the Czech Republic on a high international level. ITI was established as a joint project of 4 academic institutions in the Czech Republic: Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague (MFF UK), Institute of Mathematics of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague (M AV R), Institute of Computer Science of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague (I AV R), and University of West Bohemia, Pilsen (ZU Plze). Project leader and director of the institute was prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Neetil, DrSc. (MFF UK), co-investigators and directors of ITI branches at cooperating institutions were RNDr. Pavel Pudlk, DrSc. (M AV R), prof. RNDr. Petr Hjek, DrSc. (I AV R) a prof. RNDr. Zdenk Ryjek, DrSc. (ZU Plze).

The ITI research team succeeded to renew the project ITI2 for the years 2005-2009 under the program "Centers of applied research" of the Czech Ministry of Education (registered as 1M0545) in 2009 the program was prolonged till 2011. The 4 founding institutions of ITI were joined by the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, Brno (FI MU Brno). Project leader is prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Neetil, DrSc. (MFF UK), co-investigators are RNDr. Pavel Pudlk, DrSc. (M AV R), doc. RNDr. Ji ma, CSc. (I AV R), prof. RNDr. Zdenk Ryjek, DrSc. (ZU Plze) and doc. RNDr. Antonn Kuera, PhD. (FI MU Brno). In agreement with the mission of the program the Institute, besides basic research as a necessary basis of successful applications, extends also a broad cooperation with industrial partners.

Since 2012 the research continues as Center of Excellence - Institute for Theoretical Computer Science (CE-ITI) (registered as GBP202/12/G061) with the support of Czech Science Foundation (GA CR).
